中新社温哥华五月十五日电(尹琳)加拿大联邦政府十五日宣布,加拿大民众每为中国四川地震灾区捐一块钱,政府就跟进一块钱,不设上限,不设截止日期。
* {; c" V3 u9 X! c2 ? 据悉,这是加拿大政府有史以来第三次跟进民间筹款,前两次都是在二00五年,赈灾对象分别是印尼海啸和巴基斯坦地震,前者跟进额高达两亿元。

Oda, Minister of International Cooperation, and the Honourable Maxime Bernier, Minister of Foreign Affairs, today announced that Canada is contributing $1 million to support the emergency response of the International Federation of the Red Cross (IFRC) following the May 12 earthquake in China. In addition, as stated yesterday in the House of Commons by Minister Oda, the Government of Canada will also match individual donations to humanitarian organizations. y- B9 I6 u5 @% K$ R

“Canada is deeply concerned about the impact of the earthquake and this support will help ensure that the basic needs of affected communities are met quickly and effectively,” said Minister Oda. “In the face of so much devastation, Canada will continue to work closely with trusted partners to help bring relief to those affected and provide support as people rebuild their lives and communities.”) W9 m; k" Y0 I" R0 d

“On behalf of all Canadians, I want to extend my sincere condolences to those who are suffering in China as a result of the recent earthquake,\" said Minister Bernier. “We share the grief of those who have lost loved ones in recent days and stand with them in this time of need.
