Holder’s Happenings
Since first being elected in November 2008, I have sat on several Parliamentary Committees including International Trade, the Library of Parliament Committee, the Status of Women Committee and the Government Operations & Estimates Committee, These Committees review legislation, the Budget and other issues in much more detail than could be done through debate in the House of Commons. They provide an opportunity for Members of Parliament to call witnesses forward to provide expert and insightful testimony to help us better understand and appreciate the issues on which we must eventually vote.
I am pleased to let you know that I will continue my work on the International Trade Committee, but will now have formal responsibilities on the Transport Committee too. This change will bring forward a new set of exciting challenges and opportunities.
I think the opportunity to sit on both the International Trade and Transport Committees will be a natural fit and very beneficial to both Committees. I also believe the work of the Committee will have a direct impact on London as we are a transportation hub on the busiest transportation corridor in Canada. This Committee also handles a number of issues that include safety issues, transportation regulations and transportation research. I will keep you informed as we go. |
